Here is a round-up of some of our Colts teams performance in this past weekends' 5-a-Side Tournament.
Under-7s
The Under-7s had a great time at the tournament, playing against some tough teams that gave everything and battled hard to put in some great performances. Lots of good quick passing and moving on show, which resulted in some nice goals scored. Medals for all the squad kept the Boys happy!!
Under-9s
The Under-9s managed to have two teams and performed well in all games against some top teams. The Red side just missed out on a place in the semi final on goal difference but both sets of players had a great time and enjoyed the experience of tournament football.
Under-10 Girls
The Under-10 Girls were in action as the squad was stretched to create two teams in a very competitive single group of games. Plenty of goals in this age group as they played some great attacking football. The teams ended up 4th and 5th in their group, with the Colts 2 side just missing out on third place after a tense penalty shoot-out!
Under-11s Girls
The Under-11s Girls section was hit by several no shows from teams which left one single group, including three sides from Cottenham. After missing out on the top two spots both Cottenham sides who qualified made it through to the final to guarantee a Colts Winner!! Both teams played some good football, facing tough teams from Ely and Haverhill but made it count in the play off games.
Under-12s
With four teams in the two groups in the Under-12 section, the Colts had a good chance to get to the final and the Red 1 side managed to get through a tricky group and semi-final but were pipped for the title by an impressive Thrapston Town Juniors side. The lads were happy to get a trophy after a long season.
Under-13s Girls
The Under-13s Girls age group was probably the most action packed age group of the day with three different groups packed with good teams. The Colts managed to get two teams through the initial group stage, setting up an all Cottenham semi-final. The final was a repeat of last year against Saffron Walden but this time the Colts came out on top in a very tense game decided in extra time.
Under-13s
The Under-13s secured another title for the Colts as they battled in late afternoon rain to grab the trophy after a tense final against Oakington. With three teams spread over the groups, there was high hopes of doing well. Two teams made it out of the group with Colts 3 going all the way!
