Cottenham Colts Weekend Round-Up [11th Nov]

Here is the weekly round up of team performances from all our Cottenham Colts teams from Mini-League through to the Girls League from Saturday 11th November.

MINI LEAGUE RESULTS

Under-7s v Bottisham

A great performance today away at Bottisham. The word that sums up the performance is ‘teamwork’ - every single player played their part in a great team performance.

They looked for the passes in attacking the goal and helped each other in defence. There were some great tackles going in.

The boys are really improving with every game, and we are very proud of them all.

Under-8s v Willingham Wolves

What a team of battlers!

Up against a vastly improved Willingham team, the boys gave their all. After going a goal down the lads soon regrouped and hit back with several goals of their own.

It was a very entertaining match with both sides evenly matched. There was a great team effort right up to the final whistle and they secured a well deserved positive result.

Well done all and thanks to all parents for extra help and support.

Girls League

GIRLS TEAMS RESULTS

Under-10s v Sawston Girls Blue

The girls went into the second game in the double header against Sawston teams with confidence after a good performance last week, and they carried on the good form today. Despite going a goal behind, the girls produced a great display with plenty of goals shared around.

There was a real team performance to this display, with the whole squad contributing with some tough defending and quick attacking play, putting some of their training into the match day action.

Strong performance and even better goal celebration dancing!

Under-11s [Purple] v Girton Colts

Another great performance for the Purples against Girton. A slow start and the scores were even for a long time, but then the goals started flowing.

Some great attacking play and ruthless finishing helped the Girls to another well deserved performance. The whole squad were focused today and carried on from some good training in the week.

Well done girls!

Under-13s 0 v 1 Peterborough Sports

A tough one today for the Under-13 Girls, the game could have gone either way, but the early penalty for Peterborough proved to be the decider in a close fought match.

Leila took Player of the Game for a solid performance in goal, saving a couple of great efforts.

Unlucky today but plenty of positives to take into our next game

Under-16s 4 v 1 March Academy

The Under-16s secured back to back victories against March with another four goal display. Emma, Kitty, Ella and Lilia all struck for the Colts in a comfortable win.

Colts League

COLTS LEAGUE TEAMS RESULTS

Under-12s [Black] 2 v 8 Histon Hornets Blue It was a tough game against Histon for the Under-12s but they battled hard throughout the game. Charlie and Lorenzo on targets for the Colts.

Under-13s [Red] 7 v 0 Lakenheath Hurricanes

What a game!!

With Lakenheath being top of the league and not conceding in 5 games, we expected a very tough match but it was an incredible display from the Colts as they dominated the game. It was 3-0 at half time, which allowed the Reds to use their squad but it was the same again in the second with half four more goals, and the game ended 7-0 and Lakenheath was restricted to just a handful of shots.

Player of the match Josh, making an impressive debut for the Colts

Roll on next week!

Under-13s [Black] 1 v 5 Ely City Crusaders

Samuel was on target for the Colts in their defeat away to Ely.

Under-14s [Red] 2 v 3 Isleham United Youth [CUP]

The Reds were unlucky in this cup game losing by the odd goal in five.

Under-15s [Red] 1 v 1 Under-15s [Black]

The Cottenham derby ended a draw in the Under-15 league match, Raffy was on target again for the Blacks with Joel netting for the Reds.

Under-16s 1 v 2 St Ives Rangers

The Under-16s slipped to a narrow defeat at home against St Ives, Morgan grabbing the goal for the Reds.

Under-17s 2 v 4 Whittlesford Warriors

Goals from Brian and Felix were not enough as the Under-17s went down in a six goal thriller away to Whittlesford.
