Here is the weekly round up of team performances from all our Cottenham Colts teams from Mini-League through to the Girls League from Saturday 12th October.
MINI LEAGUE MATCHES
Under-8s v Haddenham Rovers
The boys faced off against a tough Haddenham team. It was a tight match, with both teams showcasing some excellent football.
They're really focusing on their positions and playing well all over the field. There were some standout individual efforts, but everyone contributed to a solid team performance.
They fought hard until the very end, even scoring a final goal in the last few minutes.
Great job, boys!

Under-9s [Red] v Gamlingay
The Under-9s Red team faced their very first cup match, going up against a well-known rival, Gamlingay. Matches between these two teams are typically tightly contested, and this time, Gamlingay managed to head into the next round.
As usual, the boys put in maximum effort, showcasing some impressive skills they had practiced during training. They created several promising opportunities but unfortunately couldn't find the back of the net.
It's truly inspiring to witness the boys' growth and their ability to play such exciting football this season.
GIRLS TEAMS RESULTS
Under-11s v Newmarket Town
The girls returned to league competition this weekend, facing off against Wisbech St. Mary. The match commenced with both teams evenly matched, struggling to gain an advantage in the midfield. However, the home team gradually asserted their dominance and achieved the first breakthrough with an impressive goal.
Despite the absence of substitutes, the away team fought valiantly throughout the match, demonstrating resilience until the final whistle. The Colts effectively utilized their bench in the second half, with all players making significant contributions.
Overall, it was a commendable performance, with the entire team playing a vital role in securing a positive outcome.
Well done Girls!!!

Under-12s [Red] 1 v 10 Saffron Walden Community Girls
The Reds faced an excellent Saffron Walden team in the cup and never gave up despite the scoreline. Great effort Girls!
Under-14s 2 v 2 Cambourne
Today’s trip to Cambourne saw the girls adjusting to the narrow pitch. The first half was chaotic, with much of the action concentrated in the middle due to the limited width.
Cambourne took an unexpected lead with a speculative shot that found its way into the top corner, catching everyone off guard, including the striker.
Martha, who had sustained an injury during warm-up, made a significant impact in the second half, helping us regain possession. Hannah leveled the score by capitalizing on a poor clearance and expertly lobbing the goalkeeper from a distance.
Not long after, we took the lead thanks to Elsie’s impressive run down the left wing, a clever layoff from Luka, and Hannah’s second goal of the match.
In the closing minutes, Sasha came close to scoring, but just as the game was about to end, Cambourne launched one last attack and equalized, bringing the score to 2-2.
Tia was named Player of the Match for her relentless defensive work, making numerous interceptions and distributing the ball effectively.
A special shoutout goes to Leila for her outstanding saves and, of course, to Hannah for her two goals.
Under-17s 2 v 2 Newmarket Town [Pens 4-5] [CUP]
The girls bowed out of the league gup after a very tense penalty shootout after a tight game ended in a draw during normal time.
